Various ultrasound techniques are used to visualise specific vessel sections in the neck area, as well as in the head and brain. The methods can be used to detect arteriosclerotic deposits, vascular constrictions, vessel wall tears or inflammations in the area of the vessel wall.
In addition, this examination is used after carotid surgery/stent implantation in the area of the carotid artery as part of the follow-up.
The examination takes 15-30 minutes, is painless and does not involve any radiation exposure.
